That is MY song. That cannot be anyone else's song because it is MY song. I own at least 8 versions of it. TFF is MY band. I own nearly every version of nearly every song they released prior to 1990. I saved my babysitting money to order LP's from overseas that were European-only versions.

In my opinion one of the most profound bands ever. Yes they had a couple bubble-gum hits, but it's their deeper, darker lesser known songs that were my lifeline during my teen years. And THIS one.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. ;-)

Pop quiz: Does anyone know what 80's movie that was the theme song for? WITHOUT Googling it?

erin, you are a true fan indeed! I loved Tears for Fears--"Shout" was my very favorite, but I loved this one, too.

To answer your questions: No, to the first one. Yes, to the second (I was a psych major in college.) ;-)

Songs from the Big Chair was a GREAT album.

Dena - a Psyche major would know that one ;-)

The album before Songs was called 'The Hurting'; they were into primal therapy during that time. The album (and the band's name) reflects it.

Michelle - I'll give you a hint: Val Kilmer starred in it and one scene involved a great deal of popcorn. If you've seen it, you'll know.

Ding-ding-ding-ding 100 points for Jon!

Dena got the other one: Songs from the Big Chair references the 1976 movie Sybil, which starred Sally Field, who suffered from severe multiple personality disorder (16 distinct personalities). Based in turn on the 1973 book of the same name, which is a true story.

Wow. A tears for fears fest!

They didn't really do it for me but I can understand why you love their lyrics. The lyrics for Mad World are pretty amazing and I never really listened to them properly until that newer version came out a few years ago.

I never knew that Songs from the Big Chair was named after Sybil. I am planning on reading that book again. I think I've read it twice already, and it's pretty harrowing obviously but man, there's something also really uplifiting abot it too, what a human being will do to survive. Awesome.
